You have a website. People are landing on it. But the enquiries are not coming. Here are the most common reasons why, and what to do about each one.
Your headline is about you, not the visitor
Most small business homepages open with something like "Welcome to [Business Name]" or "Your trusted partner in excellence." These say nothing useful to a first-time visitor.
Your headline needs to answer one question immediately: what is in this for me? Try leading with the outcome you deliver. "Stop losing clients to a slow website" is more compelling than "We build websites." Be specific about who you help and what changes for them.
There is no clear next step
A visitor who does not know what to do next will leave. Your page needs one clear action, visible without scrolling, repeated at the bottom. "Contact us" is vague. "Book a free 15-minute call" tells the visitor exactly what happens and removes the uncertainty of getting in touch.
If your contact button is buried below your team photos and your company history, most visitors will never reach it.
Nobody trusts you yet
A first-time visitor has no reason to believe your claims. Real reviews with names, specific results you have delivered, and a photo of the actual person behind the business all help. Generic statements like "quality service" do nothing. A named customer saying "They helped me double my enquiries in three months" does a lot.
The page is slow on mobile
More than half your visitors are on their phones. If your page takes more than three seconds to load, a large portion of them will leave before seeing anything. Large uncompressed images are usually the cause. Run your URL through Google PageSpeed Insights to find out your score.
You are asking for too many things at once
A page with five goals achieves none of them. Newsletter signup, social follow, blog, contact form, and product page all competing for attention creates confusion. Confused visitors leave. Pick one action and build the whole page around it.
If you are not sure which of these apply to your page, the fastest way to find out is to run a free scan. scanmy.page checks all of these issues automatically and tells you exactly what to fix, scored by impact and written in plain English.
